Raw material quality

We only work with the highest quality raw materials to manufacture our products, which is critical for us to keep a high quality standard in our finished products.
Regarding our main raw material, borosilicate glass 3.3 tube, rod and capillary tube, we only work with SHOTT DURAN tube, which complies with DIN ISO 3585 and ASTM E438 type I class A standards. SCHOTT DURAN tube is renowned for being the highest quality borosilicate glass for laboratory applications.
All our glass components for blowing, such as frosted, glass and PTFE keys, threaded tubes and olives of the highest quality and DURAN brand, too.
Metals and plastic polymers: we acquire raw materials from Spanish and European companies, always complying with the highest quality standards.

Finished product quality

Our product quality precedes us. Our highly experienced glass-blowing masters acting as unparalleled teachers are already training the new generation of blowers in our factory, which certainly will allow us to guarantee our quality standards in the future.

Before being checked in quality control, all manufactured parts are subjected to a heat treatment, to eliminate any internal stress in the glass, caused during the different manufacturing processes. This process is key to prevent the glass brittle fracture when handled or subject to relatively small efforts.

We have established an exhaustive quality control schedule to determine the quality of the blowing work, maximizing the absence of imperfection in the glass piece, regarding aesthetical, functional and dimensional (according to their manufacturing drawings) aspects.

ENAC Accreditation according to
ISO 17025:2017

Within Afora facilities, we count on our own Volumetric Calibration Laboratory, with its independent premises and accredited by ENAC * according to the criteria included in the UNE-EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard in its current version.

The Afora Volumetric Calibration Laboratory is fully equipped with all necessary means, to both guarantee controlled environmental conditions as well as accurate and reliable measurements, which metrologically grants all the results reported in our certificates. We have two precision automatic machines manufactured and tuned by the German Fraunhofer Institute, for the calibration of volumetric flasks (petrol station flasks according to Spanish regulations), pipettes and burettes.

Afora is accredited by ENAC to calibrate and certify graduated cylinders, volumetric flasks, burettes and volumetric pipettes. Here you can access our Scope of Accreditation where all the volumes for each type of piece are detailed.

Regardless of the Scope of Accreditation for which we are audited by ENAC, we can issue certificates for batch volumetric pieces, individual certificates and certificates according to the requirements of USP (The United States Pharmacopeia)
